What is Jolly Pong

Jolly Pong (Jollypong, 죠리퐁) is a popular Korean snack made of whole wheat that are puffed from high pressure. It is light and has a crispy texture with a delicate caramel like taste. They can be enjoyed as a crispy treat straight from the package or with milk as a breakfast cereal, so they are versatile.

Jolly Pong is also a childhood favorite of mine. This cereal is sweet and crunchy, and always enjoyable. I have many fond memories of eating the entire pack in one sitting.

If you’ve never tried Jolly Pong, I highly recommend you give it a try! It can be found in the snack aisle at Korean or Asian supermarkets.

What is Jolly Pong Shake

The Jolly Pong shake is a delicious and easy-to-make cereal milkshake that is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. This sumptuous shake consists of Jolly Pong cereal, milk, vanilla ice cream, ice, and sweet condensed milk, but some variations exist depending on flavor combinations.

Jolly Pong milkshake has been around for several years in Korea and has become increasingly popular. You can find it at many coffee shops, but my personal favorite place to get it is Mega Coffee.

They sell it under the name ‘Pong Crush‘ and it’s the place where I had my first Jolly Pong shake. As its name suggests, I instantly fell in love with it. Other shops call it a more generic name like Jolly Pong Latte or Jolly Pong Shake.

This shake is a great option for breakfast or lunch. It’s sweet and filling, and it’s a delicious summertime dessert drink that can help you cool down on a hot day.

What Does Jolly Pong Shake Taste Like

The original Jolly Pong shake has a misugaru like taste that will be familiar to fans of the Korean beverage. It is nutty and sweet, with a hint of caramel.

When the shake is made with different combinations of ingredients, the taste will vary depending on what is used (e.g. chocolate, cream-puff, banana, etc.).

The shake consistency is thicker, so you’ll need an extra wide straw and a long dessert spoon to enjoy it fully.

My Best Tips

Jolly Pong Alternatives

Jolly Pong is, of course, the best cereal to use for a Jolly Pong shake. But if you can’t find it in your area, there are other great options that will work just as well.

Honey Smacks by Kellogg or Golden Crisp by Post are both great substitutes. I haven’t tried either of them myself, but I’ve read that they taste similar to Jolly Pong. If you’re in Australia, Honey Poppas is a great option.

Flavors

I’ve included two different flavor options in my recipe below, Original and Chocolate Honey. The chocolate honey flavor uses honey-coated puffed wheat cereal instead of Jolly Pong – I read that this is how Mega Coffee franchises make their Chocolate Honey Pong Crush, although it’s not from an official statement.

I think this results in a more balanced flavor of chocolate and cereal, as Jolly Pong has a slightly more intense flavor than regular honey-coated puffed wheat cereal. But if you prefer Jolly Pong, you can still use it; it will still work.

Choose your shake flavor, then layer the required ingredients in your blender. Blend until there are only very small pieces of ice left in the drink; this should take around 30 seconds, depending on the power of the blender.

To serve, pour the shake into a cup, leaving about a quarter of a cup of space. Top up the cup with the reserved Jolly Pong (or other puffed wheat cereal). Serve with an extra wide straw and a spoon.
